How to Recycle?

Farmers can very conveniently recycle farm plastics waste by following 3 simple steps:

STEP 1: OBTAINING RECYCLING BAGS

Purchase Farm Plastics Recycling Bags from your local co-op or agri-merchant. Recommended Retail Price is €7.00

Recycling bags are manufactured from durable low density polyethylene (LDPE) plastic and are of the following dimensions:

2,400mm x 1,350mm x 1,150mm

Bags can take approximately:

  • 500 x 50 kg fertiliser bags
  • 80 x 500 kg fertiliser bags
  • 80 chemical containers (5-22 litres)

Clear usage instructions and contact details are provided on bags.

STEP 2: USING RECYCLING BAGS

Carefully follow instructions on the Recycling Bags to segregate wastes into 4 waste categories.

Place only one waste category in each bag.

All chemical containers must be triple rinsed.

Store bags in a safe and dry place while filling.

Farmers must separate waste plastics into the below categories and place in bags. Only one waste category per bag.

STEP 3: DISPOSING OF RECYCLING BAGS

Bring full bags to your local bring-centre where they will be inspected.

Only wastes presented in Farm Plastics Recycling Bags will be accepted.

Only bags containing correctly segregated wastes will be accepted.

A charge of €40 per bag will be applied.

Bags of chemical containers will be tagged with farmers’ identification details.
